Our approach to sustainable menswear is simple. Make elegant clothes, know what they're made from, and be honest about the impact. That means measuring what we claim. Our shirts use 40% less CO2e and over 90% less water than a standard shirt, based on independent third-party life cycle analysis.
From merino wool men’s clothing to casual suits, every piece is designed with the same principle in mind: buy better, wear it often, and keep it in circulation for as long as possible. For men who care about how they dress, how they live and the world they leave behind.
Where Our Mens Sustainable Clothing is Made
Our men’s sustainable clothing is made in Romania and Italy, using Italian fabric, often developed exclusively for Neem and not available to any other brand. Where a UK supply chain exists, we use it, such as our recycled socks, made in Sussex.
Our regeneratively farmed merino wool men’s clothing is sourced from New Zealand and spun and knitted in Biella, Italy. We work closely with makers who use 100% or partially renewable energy in their factories, building long-term partnerships rather than simply placing orders. We visit them each year to keep those relationships close.
Why We Make in Small Batches
In the UK, 73% of clothing ends up in landfill. The amount thrown away has doubled in the last twenty years. So we don't make huge quantities and hope they sell. Orders open six to ten weeks before delivery, giving us a better idea of what people actually want. We then make in small batches and limited runs.
This leads to less unsold stock and fewer end-of-season write-offs. Just the clothes we've been asked to make. You'll find the same thinking in our shop. We'd rather help you find the right fit and fabric than rush you into a purchase, “styling over selling” is the Neem motto. It's one reason customers still choose to visit us in person.
The principle is simple: make less, make it well, and make what's needed.
How our Take-back Scheme works
At Neem, we believe clothing should have more than one life. Through our Take Back programme, every garment you return is carefully assessed so we can give it the most responsible next chapter.
Second‑life pieces: Anything in good condition is refreshed and resold, ensuring quality garments stay in circulation for longer.
Circular recycling: If an item is beyond resale or repair, we send it to our specialist industrial recycler in Spain. They’re able to:
- Recycle 100% cotton and 100% wool back into new yarn
- Down‑cycle blended fibres into useful materials such as housing insulation or sofa stuffing
Nothing is wasted, everything is accounted for. This is how we keep clothing out of landfill and in the loop.
Regenerative Men’s Clothing vs. Men's Organic Clothing
If you're comparing regenerative men’s clothing to men’s organic clothing options, it's worth knowing the difference.
Organic cotton reduces pesticide use at the growing stage, but still requires new land and water. We take a different approach, using recycled and regenerative fibres wherever possible because reusing what already exists uses less carbon and water than growing something new.
That’s what we mean by sustainable men’s clothing in the UK: well-made, elegantly casual clothes, designed with a more thoughtful approach to the materials and the people behind them. For more information contact us.
