Regenerative Farming

Regenerative Farming

Regenerative farming is a growing movement focusing on sustainable agriculture practices that benefit the environment, the community, and the economy. This farming method aims to rebuild and restore soil health, promote biodiversity, and reduce carbon emissions. While the focus of regenerative farming is usually on food production, it also has the potential to revolutionise the clothing industry.
At the Ecological Emporium, we had an event on Regenerative farming, and three leading practitioners from this industry helped us educate on this topic. They emphasised that we should question every purchase we make and go back as deep into the farming practices to educate ourselves and make the right purchasing decisions in our daily lives.
Traditional agriculture and textile manufacturing practices have been detrimental to the environment for years. Chemical fertilisers, pesticides, and monoculture farming practices have depleted the soil of nutrients, while textile manufacturing is responsible for significant pollution and waste and the health of farmers and consumers. Regenerative farming practices, however, can reverse these adverse effects and promote a more sustainable and eco-friendly approach to clothing production.

At NEEM London, we produce garments using Regenerative Cotton and have crafted fine-looking designs such as Regenerative overshirts, Nehru shirts and Popovers. They are versatile that can be adapted in various ways. They can be worn on a casual working day to a Sunday brunch or pulled through the night.
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world, and regenerative farming practices have the potential to revolutionise the way clothing is produced. Promoting sustainable, ethical, eco-friendly practices can reduce the fashion industry's negative environmental impact and promote a more sustainable future for future generations.

As consumers, we can make a difference by choosing clothes from better farming practices like regenerative cotton and other natural fibres and supporting companies prioritising sustainability and regenerative farming practices.
